Since the start of our campaign on behalf of the people of Lebanon, the situation is only getting worse, and once again we feel urged to do something, to make all our closeness felt to those who are suffering.

Southern Lebanon, in fact, continues to be the target of Israeli attacks and now the whole country is in danger of becoming a battlefield for fighting, which is intensifying tremendously with no way out on the horizon. Truly it is difficult to describe the scale and severity of the crisis and the atrocity of the war threatening the country.

The Lebanese are sparing no effort to find a way out, showing resistance and resilience and finding support in gestures of solidarity and acts of charity. It is thanks to the help of benefactors and the goodwill of the people that the country goes on despite the risk of sinking.

If the people continue to struggle, it is thanks to the diaspora, which is the only lifeline for an economy in total collapse. Some families receive humanitarian aid from nongovernmental organizations, others are helped by political parties that help their communities through charities they founded…But there are many families begging for alms and others living in silence in the greatest misery because they have their own dignity that prevents them from asking for help.

In the face of these tragic developments, marked by a great deal of anguish, suffering and risk, our schools find themselves desperately searching for answers: the start of the new school year in the classroom is at risk, and online courses are equally difficult because there are displaced families who do not have the necessary equipment.

In any case, the priority is to support all the families that the sisters know are in need, and especially all the displaced families who, after losing their money in the banks, watch helplessly as their homes are destroyed. Many of our students have lost their homes or had to flee their neighborhoods to safer areas.

The Sisters support so many families with food parcels. But that’s not all: a crisis unit has been established in each school to make contact with families, identify their needs and offer appropriate material, vital and psychological support.

A terrible and traumatic situation: increased stress, depression and psychological vulnerability are very evident among children arriving at school and those in the neighborhood. Hence the mobilization of the department of specialized services and the multidisciplinary team: mental health is the most widespread damage of this war, so the team is tasked to provide emotional, moral and psychological support to pupils before school starts. They help them not to collapse under the weight of the dire situation.

The Sisters have activated a psychological support program led by the psychologist and the verbal expression coach who help with relaxation exercises : they try to run group and individual sessions to listen, help people talk, get rid of blocks and overcome fear and anxiety.

Our support then will go to the sisters so that they can help families with food parcels, with medicines, clothes and all basic necessities.

We will also help develop these specialist sessions for overcoming trauma and fears and giving support to the many children terrorized by the climate of war and violence.

Thank you for wanting to help ease the pain that the absurdity of war causes in the lives of so many of our brothers and sisters.
